Police Arrests Love Jihad Suspect for Duping Hindu Woman, Forcing Abortions [Guwahati, Assam]

In a startling case of love jihad, Guwahati police apprehended Hamidul Islam, who allegedly posed as a Hindu man named Jun to ensnare a Hindu woman. The accused, hailing from Rangiya area, reportedly deceived the victim into a relationship, leading to several pregnancies and coerced abortions.

According to local sources, the victim, upon filing a complaint, revealed that Islam deceived her into believing he was Hindu and initiated a relationship. Over the course of their involvement, Islam allegedly impregnated her multiple times, compelling her to undergo abortions each instance.

Expressing her ordeal, the victim stated, “I fell victim to love jihad. Initially, he portrayed himself as a Hindu.” However, as the relationship progressed, she uncovered his true identity.

Financial exploitation also marked the victim’s plight, with Islam purportedly swindling her of a substantial sum, totaling Rs 12 lakhs. He reportedly devised schemes to extract money from her, exacerbating her financial losses.

Chandmari police confirmed Islam’s identity and his deceitful actions, emphasizing his exploitation of the young woman, resulting in significant financial harm over their three-year association.

Further scrutiny revealed that Sunny Golden, a prominent regional YouTuber, is Islam’s brother, with a vast online following. While Golden’s Instagram presence is no longer active, his YouTube channel boasts 639,000 subscribers, indicative of his online influence.

The arrest comes amid Assam’s intensified crackdown on love jihad, aligning with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s zero-tolerance stance towards such manipulative practices. Authorities remain vigilant in curbing instances of love jihad to safeguard vulnerable individuals from exploitation and coercion.
