A disturbing incident unfolded in the Dalanwala police station area of Dehradun, Uttarakhand, where a Muslim youth named Rahman, posing as Aman, threatened a married woman with acid attack for rejecting his advances. Rahman, subsequently arrested, had initially introduced himself as Aman to the victim and attempted to coerce her into befriending him.

The ordeal began on March 28th when the woman received a “Hello” message on WhatsApp from an unknown number, later revealed to be Rahman’s. Claiming to be Aman, a restaurant owner from Dubai, Rahman pressured the woman to befriend him, despite her refusals. His persistence escalated to threats of self-harm to manipulate her into engaging with him.

Fed up with the harassment, the woman confided in her husband, and together they devised a plan to apprehend Rahman. Agreeing to meet him, she informed her spouse, who discreetly monitored the encounter from a nearby car. Rahman, unaware of the plan, arrived on his motorcycle under the guise of Aman, urging the woman to accompany him.

When she resisted, Rahman’s demeanor turned aggressive, and he threatened her with a vial he claimed contained acid. Panicked, she screamed, alerting her husband, who intervened. Rahman then engaged in a physical altercation with the husband before bystanders intervened, allowing the woman to escape.

Prompt police intervention led to Rahman’s arrest, and a First Information Report was filed based on the victim’s account. Inspector Dalanwala Rakesh Gusain confirmed the action, disclosing Rahman’s identity as a hotel management student from Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, residing in Dehradun.
