Attack on Ram Navami procession [Goa, India]

In the Baina area of Vasco on the evening of Ram Navami. Two Hindu boys from Sancoale, who were carrying a two-wheeler procession, were attacked and pelted with stones in the Islampur-Baina area. According to the eyewitnesses, this violence took place when the Hindu boys were passing through a Muslim dominated area. Verbal abuses were also hurled at the procession.

Superintendent of Police, South Goa, Abhishek Dhaniya said, “We have received complaints from both sides. On merits, we have registered (complaints) and taken up investigation. We have registered offences under Sections for unlawful assembly, rioting and inciting religious sentiments. We have got the footage (of incident) and are trying to identify the people. We will take necessary action.”

Goa joined the long list of Ram Navami outbreaks of violence around the country. Is it secularism or Hindu suppression?
