In a heart-wrenching incident in Kalavoor, Alappuzha district, Kerala, a 13-year-old boy named Prajith Manoj took his own life, leading his grieving family to file a complaint against the teachers of Holy Family Visitation Public School. The family alleges that the young boy faced both physical and mental harassment at the hands of his teachers, which ultimately drove him to suicide.

The tragedy unfolded last Thursday when Prajith and a classmate were reportedly late to class. Despite explaining that they were delayed due to a friend’s fall and a water-fetching incident, the teachers purportedly did not believe Prajith. The situation escalated, with the Physical Training (PT) teacher, Christudas, allegedly subjecting Prajith to physical punishment in front of his classmates.

The family’s complaint extends to other teachers accusing the students of drug involvement, compounding Prajith’s distress. The aftermath of the incident left the young boy in a deep state of depression, culminating in the devastating decision to end his own life by hanging.

The family has filed complaints with various authorities, including the Chief Minister, Education Minister, DGP, Child Rights Commission, and CBSE Council, detailing the mental and physical torture Prajith endured. The Students Federation of India is demanding a thorough investigation and appropriate punishment for those responsible.

Prajith’s tragic death has spurred local residents to form an action council, calling for justice and accountability. The council plans to stage a protest in front of the school following Prajith’s last rites on Monday. Allegations from Prajith’s classmates of witnessing the teachers’ abusive behavior further underscore the severity of the situation.

As the community grapples with the loss of a promising young life, the local police will be obtaining statements from the school administration in response to the filed complaint, as the quest for justice intensifies.
