In yet another distressing incident of religious intolerance, a Hindu temple in Sirajganj district, Bangladesh, became the target of an attack, underscoring the concerning trend of violence against minority communities in the country.

Reports indicate that on the night of March 20th, a Muslim youth launched a brazen assault on the Kali Mata temple located in Hatkhola village, within the Shiyalkol union of Sirajganj district. Armed with a sharp weapon, the assailant attempted to vandalize the sacred Kali Mata Murti, symbolizing the goddess revered by Hindus.

According to eyewitnesses, the perpetrator forcibly broke the lock of the temple door before unleashing his fury on the deity’s idol. Initially hesitant to intervene due to the assailant’s armed state, local Hindus eventually rallied together, apprehending the culprit with the assistance of others in the vicinity.

The individual responsible for the despicable act has been identified as Muhammad Mahmudul. Following his apprehension, concerned members of the local Hindu community handed him over to the Sirajganj Police for further investigation and legal proceedings.
