Kasaragod, Kerala: ML Ashwini, the NDA candidate for the Kasaragod Lok Sabha constituency, faced harassment during her election campaign at Padanna Beach, allegedly at the hands of CPM goons. Ashwini took to social media to report the incident, stating that her vehicle was stopped, and she was subjected to abuse and harassment.

Despite the disruption caused by the alleged CPM supporters, Ashwini remained resolute, emphasizing the importance of continuing the campaign without intimidation. She condemned the attempt to silence her voice and affirmed her commitment to democratic principles, asserting her right to canvass for votes anywhere.

The situation escalated when CPM cadre obstructed Ashwini’s campaign team and verbally abused her, prompting her to file a formal complaint with the police. Videos surfaced showing the police intervening and arresting individuals allegedly involved in the altercation.

Responding to the incident, BJP leaders expressed outrage at the alleged targeting of Ashwini’s campaign by CPM supporters, accusing them of attempting to suppress democratic rights. Police registered a case against two individuals for obstructing the NDA candidate’s campaign and arrested them.

Ashwini’s candidacy has drawn attention due to her strong grassroots activism and multilingual abilities, allowing her to connect with diverse voter demographics in the Kasaragod constituency. She has pledged to address long-standing issues of infrastructure development and access to healthcare and education facilities in the region.

As the election campaign intensifies in Kasaragod, Ashwini remains undeterred by the incident, vowing to continue engaging with voters and advocating for their needs. The episode underscores broader concerns about political intimidation and the need to uphold democratic values during the electoral process.
