Fardeen detained after assaulting Pooja with fodder cutter following rejected proposal

Kashipur, Uttarakhand – In a shocking incident, a 22-year-old B.Com student named Pooja was brutally attacked by a Muslim youth, Fardeen, in Mohalla PakkaKot. The assailant, armed with a fodder cutter, assaulted Pooja as she headed to tuition classes, leaving her injured and bleeding.

The incident, captured on CCTV, unfolded as Pooja, accompanied by her sister and another student, was confronted by Fardeen. The motive behind the attack was revealed to be Pooja’s rejection of Fardeen’s love proposal. Quick intervention by nearby residents prevented further harm, and Pooja was rushed to LD Bhatt Sub District Hospital for medical attention.

Local authorities moved swiftly, apprehending Fardeen, who attempted to flee the scene. Investigations uncovered a troubling history of harassment, with three prior cases registered against the accused in 2019, 2021, and 2022. Outraged Hindu activists demanded justice, highlighting the need for action against persistent offenders.

Manoj Raturi, Kotwali in-charge, confirmed the arrest and acknowledged the previous complaints against Fardeen. The victim’s father expressed frustration, stating that his daughter had been subjected to harassment before, with no effective police intervention. The incident has sparked calls for increased vigilance and preventive measures to protect individuals from repeated harassment.
