In a disturbing incident in the Jaunpur region of Uttar Pradesh, a married Dalit woman was subjected to a horrifying ordeal of drugging, rape, and captivity by an autorickshaw driver known as Sajjad. The incident occurred on March 19th, and the accused was arrested on April 3rd after the victim filed a police complaint.

The woman’s husband was away working in Mumbai, and her relatives from Pune were visiting their village. To help them reach Varanasi Junction, she contacted Sajjad, who agreed to transport them. However, after dropping off her relatives at the railway station, Sajjad allegedly drugged her with tea, abducted her, and held her captive for five days.

During this time, the victim was repeatedly raped by Sajjad, who threatened her with harm to her child if she resisted. Her family became alarmed when she didn’t return home, and a missing person report was filed with the police. It wasn’t until March 24th that Sajjad released the woman out of fear of being caught.

Upon her return, the victim recounted her harrowing experience to her family, who demanded justice. Despite initial uncertainty about the jurisdiction, the Sureri police station eventually filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Sajjad under various sections of the Indian Penal Code related to rape, abduction, and criminal intimidation.

The medical examination of the woman is ongoing, and the authorities have assured that further action will be taken according to the legal process. This shocking case highlights the vulnerability of women to such heinous crimes and underscores the urgent need for swift and decisive action to bring perpetrators to justice.
