Mohammad Imran Daraj Arrested for Brutal Rape of 4-Year-Old Hindu Girl [Mira Bhayandar, Maharashtra]

In a harrowing incident that has sent shockwaves across Mumbai, Mohammad Imran Daraj, a local butcher, stands accused of brutally raping a 4-year-old Hindu girl in the suburban area of Mira Bhayander. The heinous crime, which occurred on April 7th, came to light a week later when the victim complained of stomach pain and confided in her father about the traumatic ordeal she had endured.

Daraj, known to the victim as he ran a chicken shop near Orange Hospital, allegedly lured the child with chocolates and biscuits, despite objections from her father. Exploiting the absence of the girl’s mother, Daraj took advantage of the situation and perpetrated the unspeakable act of violence against the innocent child.

The child’s father, upon learning of the horrific incident, bravely reported it to the Navghar Police Station, sparking outrage and condemnation from the local community. Large-scale protests erupted in the Mira Road area, with demonstrators demanding justice for the victim and calling for the harshest punishment for the accused perpetrator.

In response, the police swiftly registered an FIR against Daraj under sections 376 (rape), 506 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, and sections 4, 8, and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. Additionally, sections 37 and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951, have been imposed on the accused to ensure accountability for his abhorrent actions.

The arrest of Daraj has provided some relief to the grieving family and the outraged community. However, concerns have been raised about the growing communal tensions in the area, with members of the Hindu community expressing fear and apprehension over targeted violence against their daughters.
