In a disturbing incident during the Lok Sabha election campaign, a Hindu temple faced an attack in Udharband, Cachar district of Assam. Miscreants targeted the renowned Kalachand Ashram and the Radhakrishna temple housed within.

According to reports, the temple’s priest heard strange noises around 2 AM and discovered individuals vandalizing the temple’s sacred idols. Upon raising an alarm, the culprits fled the scene, leaving behind desecrated statues.

The temple authorities promptly notified the Udharband Police, who swiftly responded to the distress call led by Officer-in-Charge Haukam Changsang. Upon inspection, it was revealed that the Murti of Radhakrishna had been shattered and discarded, with another statue of Sri Krishna also damaged. Additionally, the Durga temple within the Ashram suffered minor damage to its gate, although the idol remained unharmed.

An ongoing investigation has been initiated to identify the perpetrators responsible for this reprehensible act of vandalism. As of now, no arrests have been made, leaving the local community on edge and seeking justice for the desecration of their sacred place of worship.
