In a disturbing incident that unfolded on Monday in Jharkhand’s Girdih district, Neeraj Rana was brutally attacked by a group of Islamist men for standing up against the molestation of his sister. The attackers, including Akhtar Ansari, Armaan, Shahid, Waris, Afzal, and Aansuf Ansari, assaulted Neeraj, leaving him severely injured.

The altercation began when Akhtar Ansari approached Neeraj’s sister, asking for her mobile number as she went to fill water from the dam in Gorhand village. Upon her refusal, she informed Neeraj about the incident. Neeraj confronted Akhtar near the dam, leading to a heated argument that was initially diffused by bystanders.

However, the situation escalated later when Neeraj returned to the dam, encountering Akhtar and his associates once again. Without warning, they attacked Neeraj with an iron rod, causing head injuries, and proceeded to stab him in the stomach and back before fleeing the scene.

Neeraj was rushed to a hospital in Girdih and later transferred to Dhanbad due to the severity of his injuries. The incident has heightened tensions between communities in the village, prompting a police deployment to maintain peace. Two of the attackers, including Armaan Ansari, have been apprehended, while efforts are underway to locate the others involved in the assault.

The assault on Neeraj underscores the grave consequences of speaking out against injustice and harassment, particularly in communities marked by communal tensions. It highlights the urgent need for swift and decisive action by law enforcement authorities to ensure the safety and protection of individuals standing up against wrongdoing.
