Venugopal thrashed by Christian extremists [ Andhra Pradesh, India ]

Venugopalan, employee of the Andhra Pradesh government was brutally thrashed by radical Christians when he questioned the placement of a an arch and Christian symbols by encroaching public road. The incident occurred on 27 November 2022 around noon, near the YSR Statue at Ashok Nagar (Main) in the Chinna Chowk area.

Reportedly, Venugopal was returning home when he observed some people constructing an arch on the eve of Christmas celebrations by obstructing a public road. When he intervened, Prabhudas and a few members of the Bible Mission Church attacked Venugopal. Prabhudas and his gang also reportedly hurled abuses at him.

Venugopal’s injuries included a serious head injury, caused by sharp objects and brute force, which was strong enough to draw blood from his ear to the middle of his head.

According to the victim, he was attacked by Prabhu Kumar, Sunil, Bandi Prasad (an ex corporator), Devadas, Vinod and other members of the Bible Mission Church.

The police further, ignored the fact that the extremists were constructing an  illegal structure without obtaining permission of the government authorities. They have further registered an FIR against the injured SC victim based on a counter complaint.

Venugopal is a person from the Scheduled Caste Mala community, and works as a junior assistant at the Mandal Revenue Office in Kadapa District.
